The NANO UB-SOURCES project is, by its nature, interdisciplinary as it lies at the boundary of nanostructured laser technology, optics, semiconductor engineering, biomedicine and biomedical engineering. The consortium links partners with strong background in optical source technology and modelling with partners who have a strong background in applying optical technologies in bio-medical applications. This link is highly important and adds to the dimensions of the project by ensuring that applications drive the technology development. The consortium comprises partners from universities, research laboratories and industry, and, therefore, represents a well-balanced entity.
